Catherine Shonack is a playwright and poet from Torrance, California. She has an MLitt in Playwriting and Dramaturgy from the University of Glasgow and a BA in Government and History from Georgetown University. Her poetry chapbook, breakup notes from a love story i made up in my head, was published by Bottlecap Press (July 2025) and was awarded the Voyages of Verses Book Award by OneTribune. Her poems have been featured on the Kirkstall Poetry Trail and published in Ink Sweat & Tears, Chill Mag, and more. Her radio plays “How to Drive in the Dark” and “Grade of Execution” were performed at ChapelFM as part of their Writing on Air Festival in 2024 and 2025 respectively. She has previously participated in Open Hydrant Theater’s Playwriting Cohort. Her play “Midnight Hours” was part of the 2026 New Works Festival and she directed the play “Nostalgia is a Knife” for the same festival. Catherine has performed poetry at reading across New York City and has had her play performed at venues in both the US and UK.
